Linwood Engineering’s culture is deeply rooted in the following four pillars:

Our primary cultural pillar is that of Client Service. We believe daily prioritization of each client’s individual needs is a must in the consulting industry.  Linwood’s staff successfully maintains high-quality client service by focusing on individual client needs with respect to preferences in design, costs, vendors, and timing.

Our primary focus on client service is achieved by our remaining agile within, and between, our in-house MEP disciplines, so as to ensure project deadlines are met and scope adjustments are timely incorporated into our engineering designs.

This primary pillar also requires proactive coordination with external design teams in order to stay abreast of scope and/or design changes, to ensure inter-team needs continue to align, and to manage data flow to ensure milestones are achieved in accordance with project deadlines.

Linwood’s second cultural pillar, Transparency, embodies a core attribute of our external, and internal, cultures.  Our staff maintains consistent and transparent communications with clients, from pre-bid through project completion, with respect to design choices, pricing, and scope.

Linwood’s internal management strategies are also heavily influenced by the Transparency pillar. Linwood management is forthcoming with all staff regarding firm policy, firm financial condition, and economic forecasting. The firm has established specific level-by-level expectations and communicates these to staff in the form of level-by-level goals. These goals serve a dual purpose. They provide clear guidance to staff on raising the bar through constant development while serving as a ‘path to the top’ cheat sheet.

Linwood’s remaining cultural pillars, Alignment and Fit, round out our internal culture. Alignment refers to our firm’s proactive approach toward aligning staff compensation with staff contribution. Management maintains high expectations for Linwood staff, and in return, we dedicate significant effort to identify and offer one of the most comprehensive employee benefits packages in our local market. Management has crafted firm policy and standard operating procedures to ensure staff efforts are recognized on a real-time basis. Firm policies and programs include, but are not limited to:

  • Formal spot bonus program that streamlines direct supervisors’ real-time recognition of staff efforts.
  • 90-day look-back period for new hires to confirm whether compensation should be adjusted upward.
  • Firmwide quarterly profit sharing.
  • Formal annual reviews and goal setting, plus quarterly touchpoints.
  • Annual review of market rate pay to ensure staff compensation aligns, or exceeds, market rate.
  • Maintaining a wide breadth of benefits at little to no employee cost, typically effective within a few weeks of one’s start date:
    • medical insurance for employee and dependents
    • dental insurance for employee and dependents
    • Vision insurance for employee and dependents
    • health savings account with generous employer contribution
    • medical flexible spending account for employee and dependents
    • Dependent care flexible spending account
    • Life insurance for employee and dependents
    • 401k plan with generous employer contribution
    • generous paid time off plus holidays

Linwood’s final pillar, Fit, is a fan favorite. This pillar focuses on the work-life balance needs of Linwood staff and represents our belief that, given technological and ideological advances, staff need not maintain traditional work hours and location. Our flexible work arrangements are available to all staff and include flexible work hours and partial remote work.
